The turbine inlet temperature (TIT) of the latest MHI's "G" series industrial gas turbine has been approaching 1500℃. As shown in Fig.1, increased firing temperatures to achieve high efficiency gas turbine results in hot parts, such as combuster and turbine parts, being exposed to severe environment because of high stress by centrifugal force. Since the rotating blades in particular are exposed to the most severe environment, capability of rotating blades alloy must be improved. In response to this demand, MHI started to develop a new Ni base superalloy using its own alloy design system. It was obtained and named MGA1400 MITSUBISHI GAS TURBINE ALLOY 1400). MGA1400 has better high temperature resistant strength and corrosion resistance than IN738LC. MGA1400 can be applied to the conventionally cast (hereafter CC) blades as well as the directionally solidified (hereafter DS) blades. As a result, DS and CC blades made of MGA1400 were installed in the actual engines.
