I tried theoretically to translate Hierarchical Agreement Analysis (HAA) into a minimalist program (MP) of human natural language. I found that HAA and MP are theoretically compatible. HAA was originally proposed within the discipline of Japanese linguistics as a key analytic tool to constructively connect Japanese linguistics to the syntactic study of the computational system of human natural language (CHL). HAA and MP share many things in common with respect to model building, including the following: (1) CHL computes structures. (2) CHL contains a uF (uninterpretable structural feature)-elimination mechanism that shows identical properties both to the human immune system and to variable-elimination in algebra. (3) uF-elimination is the driving force of structure building. (4) CHL exhibits distance computation. The computation converges if and only if the shortest possible distance is chosen, which is the optimal solution. Human language is a typical function of the human brain that Nature devised to resist the second law of thermodynamics (or entropy law) that dictates that things always go wrong in this universe - order always disappears. But that is the story of an isolated system; the human brain is an open system. In it, Nature introduced a computational system in which order is constantly destroyed in order to keep order. In a word, Nature created uF (=disorder) to destroy order in order to keep order. uF is one of the key concepts in MP, and is also the CHL-driving force for calculating structural relationships such as agreement, feature-checking, and distance. HAA contains ideas similar to those. In other words, HAA and MP are at least in part mutually translatable, and the key to their translation is uF. CHL displays a state that is far from equilibrium in the human brain until we lose sanity and die. For example, when the human brain ends up in a state of equilibrium, i.e., the state of the highest degree of disorder or entropy, such as Alzheimer's or Parkinson's Disease, the brain loses its high-order functions (e.g., language and thought), and the eventual result is death. The source of the non-equilibrium is the uF-elimination mechanism in the human brain.
