Eugene O'Neill (1888-1953) has two short stories, "Tomorrow" and "S.O.S." Both are works from his early days as a dramatist. Even though they are short stories, we must not neglect them when we study his later dramaturgy. Comparing and examining his handwritten and published typescripts shows us his original characteristics later in life more clearly. Also I examine his one-act plays. In this report, I examine both stage directions which are one of the unique elements in O'Neill's dramaturgy and the non-dialogue parts of in his short stories.
