• The effect of glass addition on the magnetic properties of 3Ba_<0.5>Sr_<0.5>O・2CoO・12Fe_2O_3 (Co_2Z) ferrites was investigated. The densification of Co_2Z ferrites was enhanced by the addition of glass at low sintering temperature (<900℃) due to the liquid-phase sintering. The initial permeability and Q value of Co_2Z ferrite sintered at low temperature were improved by the addition of glass. Multilayer chip inductors made of Co_2Z ferrite containing glass exhibit excellent magnetic properties. The device offered low impedance at 100 MHz and high impedance at frequencies between 500 MHz and 1000 MHz. Therefore, it could be used as an electromagnetic interference countermeasure component effective in suppressing GHz band noise.
