The methods for the estimation of classification effect and the treatment of dynamical similarity in hindered settling are presented. They are based on the results of the measurements of viscosity and settling characteristics of suspensions, and will be used in developing a better understanding on the settling phenomena and the problem of the scale up in the design of settling apparatus.
