It was a time when I have seen activity sheets in Museum of London that I have begun to consider the qualitative difference of education between in school rooms and in exhibition rooms of museums for the first time. "Activity sheets" are educational materials to be carried by visitors during all the while their visiting museums and containing questions to be answered by them while observing the objects. I was very much impressed with the fact that this activity sheet system enables visitors to strengthen observation ability, develop imaginative power, in particular, think over concerning present various problems on the basis of historical facts they have learned in museums rather than forces them to answer about those historical facts as mere knowledge. And I have found that activity sheets are ideal educational materials to be discussed fully showing a learning methodology for objects of museums as they are. Since then, they got attention among the people concerned as the most suitable basic materials for the characteristic features of museums as mentioned in the above. In this report, I have made cases of smaller-sized museums than national museums as an object for my study and considered on educational methodology in provincial museums in England through analysis of activity sheets.
