In recent years many less-developed countries have sought to attract foreign investment in order to develop their economy, because some Asian countries achieved drastic growth utilizing foreign capital. Ex-Soviet countries also want to receive foreign investment and they have tried to build favorable climate for foreign investors. This paper examines foreign direct investment (FDI) in Uzbekistan with the largest population in Central Asia. According to statistics, Uzbekistan has failed to attract substantial investment and faced poor economic performance. Although Uzbekistan has offered tax incentives and create foreign investment law, there are still many obstacles, i.e., insufficient infrastructure, and inefficient system. They cause foreign firms to hesitate to operate in Uzbekistan. It is necessary for Uzbek government to attain further improvement in investment climate.
