This paper is to carry out research on who influenced Chyohoh MIYARA(1883-1939). The studies about Miyara has been greatly progressing recently, but it is unknown that the time when Miyara was studying at the teacher's school of Okinawa; therefore this paper deals mainly with who taught music at the teacher's school from the Meiji to Taisyoh eras. And also to know how musical teachers gave students musical lessons at that time, is the purpose of this paper. Therefore, this paper treats educational magazines as main sources, called "Ryukyu-kyouiku (Ryukyu-education)" and "Okinawa-kyouiku (Okinawa-education) ", had been published from the year of Meiji 31 to the year of Syowa 18. This paper is made up of two large sections. The first section is written about how Okinawan teachers at elementary school or teacher's school had been hired in the Meiji era. After Japan beat China (the Sino-Japanese War), starting from the year of Meiji 27, more and more pupils living in Okinawa wanted to go to elementary school which was made by the Japanese government. From that time many more teachers were needed in elementary school and local people were employed gradually in elementary school. The second section of this paper tries to trace the strain of the teachers who taught music in the teacher's school in Okinawa, and also tries to describe how musical education was conducted after Miyara had graduated from there. Kiyonobu ISHIKAWA taught Miyara there during the latter half of Meiji 30's. At the end of Meiji era, Minpei SONOYAMA came here to teach from Tokyo Ongaku Gakkoh. The first musical concert in Okinawa was taken place and was promoted by Sonoyama. The concert was programmed in a variety of musical genre: European music, Japanese traditional music, Okinawan traditional music, and also original music, based on folk songs around the world, was composed or arranged by Sonoyama. It seems that Sonoyama taught us universal values among those music. As a result, musical activities attributed to Sonoyama had a large effect on not only Miyara, but also on modern Okinawan society. However musical researchers in music in Okinawa think that Miyara was the pioneer in the field of musical activities in modern Okinawa society. Here comes the time we have to rewrite Okinawan history in modern musical education.
