<原著>血液透析を受けている腎不全患者の現状と認識に関する調査 : 福井県における調査報告

An observational study was conducted in Fukui Prefecture from October to December, 2000 to assess treatment environment and perception of their conditions among chronic renal failure patients (CRF) undergoing hemodialysis (HD). A questionnaire was sent to chief officers of "Jin-yu-kai" (the HD Patients Association), then distributed to each patient. Seven hundred and twenty patients were asked to answer the questionnaire and send it back to the researchers. A total of 524 (72.8%) individuals responded; all of them were considered valid and included in this study. A self-reported questionnaire included a patient's geographic data, medical history and cause of CRD, the state of HD and patient's perceptions about HD, including understanding of undergoing treatment, continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) and kidney transplant, self-care status, healh insurance, social security, economical status, and expected healh care services. There was an even number of male and female subjects, and more than 60% of them were in their 50 's or 60's. Because of the Hokuriku climate, many of the clients felt difficulty about transportation difficult during winter time. They also felt difficult to control water, phosphorus, and potassium intake. The clients' highest expectations were to have a better treatment environment, including more physical space between beds, and having their own TV next to the bed, a psychological support system including health counseling at hospitals, transportation system to hospitals, and for nurses to have more specific knowledge about CRF. Many of the clients wanted to have more knowledge about their conditions and diseases.
