The forcing effect on flower bud differentiation and flowering of Easter Jilies (Lilium longiflorum) from early-dug bulbs stored at various temperatures was studied. The bulbs were stored from August 1 to September 20, at the following temperatures: a) room temperature (control), b) 5℃., c) 8.5℃., and d) 13℃. for 30 days and 3℃. for 20 days. After the cool storage all plants were transferred into the glass-house and were heated. As the result, the 8.5℃. storage treatment for 50 days was most effective for forcing the flower bud differentiation (table 1) and flowering (table 2). The plants stored at 8.5℃. were in flower from the middle of January to the middle of February, 13°to 3℃. were from the middle of February to the middle of March, 5℃. were from the middle of March to early April, while control plants bloomed in May. From these results, it is possible to use home-made immature bulbs which have been harvested in the warmer region.
