Enactment of laws with the aim of establishing circulating society has proceeded in Japan in recent years. In this research, considering the enforcement of these laws, investigation on the current situation in Tokyo's 23 wards in terms of the collection and recycling of unwanted clothing discarded from households was carried out mainly through interviews with people in the related fields. As there is no organization that systematically controls the recycling of discarded clothing, it was not possible to estimate the total amount of recycled clothing, nor the percentage of that with respect to the total amount of discarded clothing. It could be speculated however that the amount of recycled clothing is limited in Tokyo because clothing is collected as the combustible waste in most wards. Therefore, it was concluded that the improvement of the collection and recycling systems including the development of new routes for recycling remains to be solved in the future to increase the percentage of recycled clothing.
