養護学校における就労支援の現状 : 障害者雇用促進のための一課題

This paper is part of a research project on promoting the employment of disabled persons. The purpose of this paper is to determine the present condition of the employment support system for disabled persons, examining what sort of support will be needed for employment promotion from the social welfare perspectives, and contributing to the promotion of employment of disabled persons. First, the existing governmental and private sector statistics were used. Second, persons concerned were interviewed, and questionnaires were sent to all Tokyo metropolitan schools for mentally and physically handicapped children. The results are as follows. Many disabled persons received education in high schools for mentally or physically handicapped children and were employed after graduation. It turned out that it was most important to support adaptation and fixation in the work place while at school. It was shown that it is necessary to offer disabled persons employment support and that this should be tackled from complex viewpoints, such as welfare and labor policies. It was also pointed out that the related ministries and government offices should cooperate with each other.
