The reactions of the students toward these activities were more successful than expected. The keys to success were the following : 1. The students were given enough needed support : model sentences, Japanese translation, the beginning words and model conversations, etc. 2. In the speaking activity, they were given time to create a script that they could depend on without forcing them to speak off the top of their heads. It was reassuring for students with anxiety. 3. Telling lies is not good but this activity allowed them to think of innocent lies and trick their partners. Students really enjoyed this kind of innocent mischief.
