A density matrix formalism of resonance light-pulse scattering is presented, taking account of the uncertainty relation between time-resolved and energy-resolvd measurements. The interaction between a material system and radiation field is correctly treated without any assumption, such as "Momentarity Ansatz" made by Toyozawa. By the use of this formula, it is shown that a complete neglect of an uncertainty in energy-resolution makes it essentially impossible to detect the transient response, and that a continuous detection of the transient response necessarily sacrifices information on the energy spectrum.
