In accordance with recent development in the technique of the powder metallurgy, the sintered iron powder is widely utilized as a magnetic material in the field of the former cast material and is also used in manufacturing the pole piece or the armature of small motors in foreign countries. Such a trend is also prevailing in Japan. The main difference between the sintered compact and the casted product is the presence of pores in the former, which, as the magnetic material, not only acts to bring the decrease in effective cross section, but also is affected by the demagnetizing field of the pore itself. The theoretical analysis of its magnetic property is, therefore, almost impossible. The object of the present report is to experimentally clarify the above relations.
