This study explores the process of socialization of an infant through social interaction. An 18-months-old infant and his mother were observed during the day and their utterances and behavior were recorded. The mother's image of her child and her course of child-rearing were asked in a face to face interview. To discipline her child along her course, the mother tries to call his attention and talk to him motivating consciously. Besides she unconsciously draws him in interaction as a partner, though his response is not expected. The child chooses his behavior relying on the signs that the mother presents through a change of direct-indirect expression and tone of utterances, facial expression, and gestures. The results suggest socialization of the child is acquired through social interactions , regulating intention and behavior of the self in accordance with the signs presented by others and the rules of the situations.
