Though it has been long since SF was vaguely recognized as a literary category, the generic boundary of SF has not been clear yet. In his masterpiece, Metamorphoses of Science Fiction, Darko Suvin proposed a brilliant definition of SF in 1979. Since then, it has been in the center of controversy whether it is possible to differentiate it from other genres distinctively. In this brief paper, I would like to critically overlook some of the objections to Darko Suvin's definition, putting much stress on the radicality of SF, in order to reexamine whether SF can be a literary genre and how, in that case, its distinctive rhetorical features should be described.
