A theoretical analysis and numerical evaluations are developed for a driven scattering system using a power-modulated electromagnetic wave beam as a driver to excite electrostatic waves such as ion acoustic waves and/or ion cyclotron waves. The plasma parameters, especially T_i, can be evaluated from the dispersion measurements of the driven electrostatic wave by electromagnetic wave scattering. Numerical values of the relevant experimental parameters are examined when the proposed method is applied to Tokamak devices such as JIPP T-II and JT-60. The results of numerical evaluations show that the power requirement for the incident electromagnetic wave in the driven scatterirng method is much less stringent as compared with the ion Thomson scattering method.
