This paper describes the oscillation mechanism in Osaka tubes. The major oscillation generated by axially-symmetrical Osaka tubes is not affected by the external circuit. An electron performs the same motion as in a magnetron in a plane perpendicular to the axis, while performing harmonic motion in the direction of the axis. From the complex phenomena also related to the magnetron, those phenomena necessary for determining the geometry of the electron beam are selected. The study of these phenomena indicates that a closed electron beam is formed by a single excursion and return of an electron in the axial direction. A simple model using the Llewellyn-Peterson equations for a plane diode shows that the tube is capable of amplifying space charge waves. The oscillation frequency is determined by the resonance of the space charge waves.
