An increase in the apparent viscosity of acetone in D.C.and A.C fields is measured with an Ostwald-type viscometer, and at the same time, the pressure-drop fluctuation induced by application of an electric field is observed by means of a pressure gauge located at both ends of the test path. In a D.C. field, the pressure-drop shows a complex fluctuation which might be attributed to ionic injection. In an A.C. field, the pressure-drop shows a periodic fluctuation corresponding to the space-charge development owion to migration of ions from one electrode to another. Propagation of the electroconvection induced by space-charges produces an increase in pressure-drop which is equivalent to an increase in effective viscsity.
