Considering the electrohydrodynamic phenomena related with a conduction process is dielectric liquids, the electroviscous effect of an n-type nematic liquid crystal (MBBA) is consistently explained. The increase of the apparent viscosity is attributed to the agitation of the liquid which enhances the momentum transfer across the stream line of the mean flow.
