Energy loss spectra of low energy electrons have been obtained for tiny single crystals of CaSO_4 as a function of primary electron energy (15 to 300 eV). An explanation for most loss energies is given in terms of cation intraionization, collective excitations of cation p electrons and the partial valence electrons, interionic transitions and electronhole pair productions.
