High-T_c superconducting Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu oxide was prepared by the arc-melting technique and post annealing treatment. The as-melted sample was in a crystalline phase and showed semiconducting behavior, but post heat treatment at various annealing temperatures resulted in superconductors with different critical transition temperatures. The best sample, annealed at 860℃ for 10 h, showed a zero-resistance temperature of 82 K and a critical current density, which was calculated from the magnetization measurement at 5 K with 5 kOe applied magnetic field, was 8000 A/cm^2. XRD analysis, magnetization data and the packing-density measurement all indicated that the arc-melting and post annealing-treatment-prepared samples have better superconducting properties than those prepared by the solid-state reaction.
