The Au/Co superlattices are known to exhibit strong perpendicular magnetic anisotropy. However, the remanence and coercivity of the epitaxial superlattices reported in earlier papers were rather small at room temperature. In this study, we have prepared epitaxial Au/Co superlattices with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy that possess full remanence and considerable coercivity at room temperature. The samples were grown on 5-nm-thick Cu seed layers formed primarily on 7×7-(111)Si substrates at 50℃ by molecular beam epitaxy.
