Quality Improvement of Ultrasonic Diffraction Tomography Based on Knowledge of Background Velocity

A reconstruction method in ultrasonic diffraction tomography aiming at the relaxation of the weak scattering condition was investigated. The method with a simple fast procedure was realized by effectively incorporating the background information into the conventional first-order Born reconstruction based on the assumption that the background velocity variation of the object is known. Simulation and experimental results using cylindrical test objects were shown. As a result, the validity of the present method was demonstrated to satisfy the practical requirement to a certain extent.
