In order to know the real waveform of an incident optical short-pulse on an optical detector, a new calibration method is proposed in which the cumulants of a detected pulse is subtracted from that of the system function of the detector. In particular, it is shown that by introducing the concept of the coefficients of skewness and excess for a quasi-gaussian pulse, it is possible to calibrate the detected pulse waveform conveniently.
