The photoconductivity measurements of a-sulfur crystals excited by dye laser beams in the wavelength range of 3700-5800 Å have been carried out. The induced charges of electrons and holes are both proportional to the quadratic light intensity in the whole excitation range. The change in the shape of the induced current of electrons is measured at various excitation wavelengths and for various sample thicknesses. Good agreement is obtained between experimental results and theoretical results, assuming that the charge carriers are produced via a double quantum process.
