A Mossbauer spectrometer which could provide the derivative spectrum versus the relative velocity between the source and the absorber was constructed for the purpose of the accurate determination of the resonance peak position. The constant velocity driving mode and the repetitive scanning were employed. The derivative spectrum was obtained by measuring the difference between the numbers of the transmitted gamma quanta at one velocity and at another. Since the entire apparatus was digitalized, it could operate with high accuracy. By means of this spectrometer, the derivative spectrum was successfully obtained and from it the peak position could be determined more easily and accurately than from the conventional nondifferentiated absorption spectrum.
