A study has been made of the X-ray scattering at small angles from DuPont Ludox type HS, a colloidal dispersion of silica spheres in water. The data furnish the radius of a spherical silica particle and the interparticle potential. The radius of 115A for Ludox HS is obtained. The interparticle potential of Ludox HS is similar to that of hard spheres having radii of 150A.
