N,N'-Dicyclohexylcarbodiimide (DCCD) inhibited the flash-induced reduction of cytochrome b_<560> by blocking the electron flow between the secondary electron acceptor and cytochrome b_<560>, presumably in the vicinity of the ubiquinone pool. The stoichiometry of the reduced cytochrome b<560> per reaction center bacteriochlorophyll dimer was 0.77±0.12 throughout the redox potential range of 150 to 390 mV at pH 7.0. The high stoichiometry suggested that most of the electrons ejected from the reaction center reduced cytochrome b_<560>.
