1. There appeared to be a high degree of constancy in the nutrient contents in NG (Nicotiana glutinosa) cells where the medium composition remained stable, while the nutrient contents in HNG (habituated NG) cells varied with the changes in the composition of the medium during the culture period of 30 days. 2. The respective nutrient-content ratios of HNG to NG cells were: N (1.06)〓Ca (1.08) ^< Mg (1.26) ^< K (2.06) ^< P (3.57) in the order of magnitude on the 5th day from the start of culture, when both media compositions of NG and HNG cells were still unchanged. During this culture period, contents of Mg. K and P were markedly higher in HNG than in NG cells, and nutrient contents were generally higher in HNG than in NG cells.
