1. In the dark, HNG (habituated Nicotiana glutinosa) and NG cells scarcely grew at 15℃, and the difference between the growth rates of HNG and NG was small at both 15℃ and 25℃. 2. The stimulatory effect of light (4000 lux) on the cell growth rate was higher at 25℃ than at 15℃ for both HNG and NG. 3. Light exerted much more effect on the growth rate of HNG than of NG. 4. The thermal effect was higher in the light than in the dark for both HNG and NG, and was somewhat greater on NG than on HNG. 5. The synergistic effect of light and temperature on cell growth was greater on HNG than on NG. 6. HNG contained more chlorophyll than NG. 7. In addition, there was little difference between the friabilities of cell groups of HNG and NG.
