Short exposure of Chlorella pyrenoidosa cells to a high conccntration of 6-methyl purine at an early stage of the cell cycle caused an apparent "return-to-start" effect in which the cells seemed to return to the starting point of a new cell cycle, with con current abortion of the cell cycle in process.
