Inhibition by ammonium nitrate and water-treatment of flowering in Lemna gibba G3 in continuous light at 26℃ and removal of this inhibition with cAMP were investigated. Ammonium nitrate (10^<-4> M) extended the induction period and decreased the rate of flower production, Water-treatment given during the first or second subjective night extended the induction period without modifying the rate of flower production. The same treatment given during the third subjective night reduced the rate of flower production without changing the length of the induction period. Water-treatment during the subjective days had no influence on flowering. cAMP at 10^<-5> M restored the extended induction period but did not restore the decreased rate of flower production. However, extension of the induction period caused by the water-treatment given during the second subjective night was not eliminated by cAMP. The modes of action for ammonium ions and water-treatment as well as cAMP are briefly discussed.
