In order to reduce the cost of materials, POS446M and STS430Ti, so-called POS430Ti alloys were investigated for the application in the Flatron rail instead of conventional 28wt%Cr alloy. It was found that magnetic properties of these materials do not affect beam landing characteristics of Flatron by proper heat treatment. In addition, Flatron manufacturing process using POS430Ti was also stabilized without glass crack by the application of the modified process conditions, which were optimized through the disign of experiment method.
