This article on Chilean Pinochet regime is the result of discussions between two experts of Latin-American Studies, Mr. Watari Takeuchi and Mr. Motohiko Nakagawa, both of them have stayed in Chile in the final period of Pinochet regime in 1980's. This work is composed of two theses, one is the Mr. Nakagawa's political approach and the other is Mr. Takeuchi's economic approach. Mr. Nakagawa analyses, from political point of view, the period after the coup d'etat in 1973 up to the mid 80's, that president Pinochet had tried to gain its legitimacy through under taking the "institutional tramsformation project", which is often called "Capitalistic Revolution". The effort at seeking legitimacy was brought into as the 1980's Constitution, which was the ideological, political, economic and social expression of the Pinochet regime. Mr. Takeuchi analyses economic policies under Pinochet's early regime until mid-80's, and makes conclusion that those economic policies were ideological product of "Chicago Boys" (Chilean economist group who had studied at University of Chicago) and they purposed to re-capitalize the Chilean economy and society.
