The phylogenetic relationships of five related genera, Eriocampidea, Hemitaxonus, Pseudohemitaxonus, Nipponorhynchus and Adelesta, are expressed in a synapomorphic diagram as developed by HENNIG, and their evolutionary relationships are roughly estimated from the number of apomorphic characters. It is revealed that members of the genera show a relic distribution. The tendency of reduction in distributional range, remarkable among these genera, is discussed in connection with their phylogeny.
