On the Species of the Genus Meimuna DISTANT (Homoptera, Cicadidae) of the Ryukyus : I. Synonymy and Description of the Species

• Four species of the genus Meimuna DISTANT, 1905, are recognized in the Ryukyus ; they are M. opalifera (WALKER, 1850), M. oshimensis (MATSUMURA, 1905), M. kuroiwae MATSUMURA, 1917, and M. iwasakii MATSUMURA, 1913. M. oshimensis tokunoshimana ISHIHARA, 1968, is treated as a synonym of M. oshimensis ; M. amami-oshimana KATO, 1928, M. tsuchidai KATO, 1931, M. kikaigashimana KATO, 1937, M. hentonaensis KATO, 1960, and M. nakaoi ISHIHARA, 1968, as synonyms of M. kuroiwae ; M. ishigakina KATO, 1925, M. uraina KATO, 1925, and M. iriomoteana KATO, 1937, as synonyms of M. iwasakii. Re-descriptions of all the four species are given. Habitats and habits observed in the Ryukyus are also stated.
