The surface tensions of alkali chloride binary systems (NaCl-LiCl, KCl-NaCl, KCl-LiCl, CsCl-NaCl and CsCl-LiCl systems) were measured by the maximum bubble pressure method. The surface tensions of the molten salts showed linear dependence on temperature. The surface tension of pure salt at the same temperature increases as the cation radius becomes smaller, in order of smaller cation radius, that is, CsCl, KCl, NaCl and LiCl. When components of smaller cation were added to all binary mixtures, the surface tension increased and showed negative deviation from mole additivity and Guggenheim's ideal value. The deviation from linearity of the surface tension was discussed on the basis of the difference in replacing cation radii, and the equation of the surface tension isotherms proposed by Bertozzi was modified for better agreement. The equation was as follows, γ=X_Aγ_A+X_Bγ_B-M・X_<A′>・X_<B′>・D where γ_A and γ_B are the surface tensions of pure components ; X_A and X_B are their mole fractions in bulk mixture ; X_A′ and X_B′ are the correction values which are given from X_A and X_B ; D=(d_A-d_B)^2/(d_A+d_B)^2, d_A and d_B are interionic distances of pure salts.
