The one-side welding of aluminium using TIG welding process was investigated for easy and stable execution of the high quality welded joint. A method which has good effects of key hole welding was songht, paying special attention to the penetration bead formation. A suitable range of the key hole welding was established using AC TIG welding process in the relationship between the welding current and the welding speed under appropriate condition of D_0 (diameter of tungsten electrode end), L_1 (electrode extension) and L_2 (arc length). This suitable range is such a welding condition that the arc force operating on the key hole formation is approximately constant. The sequence diagram of a control system for the conventional TIG welding was improved to supply a part of the shielding gas before the striking of arc, and the key hole welding of high reproducibility was made possible.
