The vertex-pronotal type of stridulatory organ in male and the elytra-abdominal type in both sexes of the minute pine bark beetle, Cryphalus fulvus NIIJIMA, are described. It quite differs from that of other Cryphalus species. Field and laboratory observations showed that the chemoacoustic interaction plays a role in the colonization behavior of this species.
