The chromosomes of Tapes (Amygdala) japanica were studied in male germ cells in the course of spermatogenesis. The results are summarized as follows : 1) The number of chromosomes was observed as 28 in diploid in the spermatogonial division, and 14 in haploid in both the first and second spermatocyte divisions (Figs. 1; 1-3, 6-7). 2) All of the 28 chromosome are of short rod-type. 3) Through the course of the meiotic divisions, there was found no special chromosome either in shape or in behaviour.
