The collections of Drosophila were made with traps baited with banana and other fermenting fruits in order to observe the diurnal feeding behavior at a certain place of Mt. Asahi, 1060m in altitude. In collection 367 individuals were obtained which covered the following 7 species: D. bifasciata, D. nigromaculata, D. testacea, D. histrio, D. robsuta II, D. auraria and D. sp.. D. bifasciata, the most common and adundant species, showed a clear bimodality in diurnal activity, while D. nigromaculata exhibited no remarkable periodicity (Figs. 1-3). The sex-ratio of D. bifasciata was found as 100: 174, while in D. nigromaculata it was 100:27. The collections undertaken in a few restricted areas revealed that the species of Drosophila obtained were dissimilar according to the kinds of plants growing in the area.
