Duvaucelia (duvaucelia) septemtrionalis nov. sp.キタウミウシ(新稱) Body shout, about 10 cm long, and of a pinkisn colour (preserved specimen). Back and sides even, without tubercles. Velar processes short conical, about 14 in all, the outermost ones spoon-shaped as usual. Margin of rhinophore sheath crenulate. Back margin with a continuous row of (29-30) branchial tufts, apparently of varying sizes. Nephroproct above anus. Jaws shell-shaped with a smooth cutting edge; the masticatory process covered with close-fit polygonal plates, many of which bearing spiny denticles. Radula formula 80×100-115.1.1.1.100-115. Central tooth typically tricupidate, but often with malformed denticles. First lateral tooth differentiated from the rest which are all simply hamate. Anterior liver fused with the posterior one. Stomach with a girdle of short longitudinal ridges, the surfaces thickened but not forming distinct plates. The present species resembles in general body form and colour the North Pacific species, Duvaucelia (Duvaucelia) diomedea (BERGH) and D. (D.) exsulans (BERGH), but is easily distinguishable from them by having a larger radula formula and a larger number of branchial tufts.
