東北海区近海における黒潮続流流軸を指標する100m深水温について

In order to know the position of the Kuroshio Extension axis from temperature maps at a depth of 100 meters, 100 meter depth temperature indicative of the axis is derived. An analysis is carried out for the period during 1979 through 1991 and for the longitude between 141゜E and 146゜E. The estimation is based on the temperature of the Kuroshio Extension axis which is 14.0℃ at 200 meter depth proposed by Kawai(1969). First, values of temperature at 100 meter depth were estimated at several positions where temperature at 200 meter depth was 14.0℃. Next, the temperature indicative of the Kuroshio Extension axis was calculated by a statistical method. The indicative temperature at 100 meter depth varies with respect to month from 16℃ in March to 19℃ in November, whereras it is independent of year and longitude. The indicative temperature at 100 meter depth obtained by the present study was found to represent the Kuroshio Extension axis determined from 200 meter depth temperature being equal to 14.0℃ within 15 nautical miles in 98% cases.
