• Female pronuclei of eggs laid by virgin hens were observed with the aid of an optical-microscope. These egg nuclei werre very small in size, showing somewhat degenerating features. The material was fixed in Allen-Bouin's fluid, and embedded in paraffin by a method slightly modified by the present author. Serial sections were made 12μ in thickness. In these serial preparations, the details of egg nuclei were rather clearly observed.
