1. When the testis of adult male of Xenopus laevis is homoplastscally implanted into the overian cavity of the adult female, the seminal tubules including residual spermatogonia degenerate in several weeks after the implantation; female differentiation of residual spermatogonia was detected in none of he testis examined. 2. Similarly, when the testis of Bufo vulgaris formosus is homoplastically implanted with Bidder's organ into the ovarian cavity, the seminal tubules in the testicular tissue degenerated sooner or later. In the Bidder's organ the large oocytes with yolk granules begin degeneration in a few weeks after the operation while small auxocytes with vesicular nuclei and transparent cytoplasm are kep healthy for a long time in the modified germinal tissue. 3. In the testis of B. vulgaris formosus implanted into the ovarian cavity of Triturus pyrr hogaster both small and large oocytes in the Bidder's organ degenerated within several weeks after the implantation. 4. Hanaoka (1960) reported that the colummar epithelium covering the apex of the testicular lobe of T. pyrrhogaster transformed, when homoplastically implanted into the ovarian cavity of adult female, into female germinal tissue including small auxocytes. The absence of development of female germinal tissue in the testes of Xenopus and Bufo is presumably due to the disappearance of amphisexual primordial germinal tissue in the adult of these animals.
