The relation between apparent digestibility and amount of food intake was investigated on eleotrid gobies, Odontobutis obscurus, which are fish-feeders of an ambush-type in their predatory behaviours. The food (live goldfish) of various amounts, i. e. from the maintenance requirement (4% of body weight) to the maximum amount of food intake (12% of body weight), was supplied to the goby. According to the increase of the amount of food intake, duration of defecation was prolonged, but the apparent digestibility did not decline. The result may be reflected on the predatory habit of the ambush-type of the fish.
