Embryos of Oryzias latipes at 7 different developmental stages, were incubated at 23℃ in tap water containing 0, 1 and 10μCi of ^<90>SrCl_2 per liter, respectively. Newly hatched fty of each group were continuously kept in the same water until sacrifice. On 30, 54 and 70 days after hatching, young were fixed in Bouin's fluid. Sections of their gonads were histologically examined. At 30 days after hatching, no significant differences in development and differentiation of the germ cells of male and female were found between ^<90>Sr-treated and control groups. At 54th or 70th day, however, in females treated with 10μCi of ^<90>Sr per liter abnormal structures of the ovaries were observed. In males incubated in 10μCi/l, the multiplication of spermatogonia was strongly inhibited and the testes without germ cells and those containing oocyte-like cells were found.
