Proposal of a Key Sharing Method for Secure Communication Systems

VPNs (Virtual Private Networks) are new services which provide secure end-to-end communications. When constructing VPNs using secure communication systems, key sharing mechanism is a major technology. In this paper, we propose a Simple Key Distribution method to apply VPN over the Internet and define communication characteristics for realization. In this method, all communication entities in a group share the same encryption key, and session keys are distributed periodically from a management entity to each communication entity. An application of this method for secure communication Systems will show that inexpensive and flexible VPNs with various communication groups can be constructed easily. It is also shown that the proposed method works effectively in a enterprise network system.
